Please see below two resources that you may find helpful in discussing recent events and the Black Lives Matter movement with your child.

The first is a ‘Guide for Parents’. There are many helpful suggestions about how to discuss issues of racism and injustice with children. There are also some ideas for books to read and for ways to help children understand the events of the last few weeks without inducing anxiety.

Parent’s guide to black lives matter

The second is a video clip created by presenters of Blue Peter. This is a ‘child-friendly’ look at ways that people have and continue to suffer from the injustice of racism and being judged according to skin colour.

We will be ordering some of the books listed at the end of the parents’ guide so that we have these resources to help children develop their understanding on their return to school.
